  • Director of Youth Ministry

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Youth Ministry will be under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Pastor and accountable to the Lord. Any concerns or problems need to be discussed with the Senior Pastor who is the head of staff. However, the Personnel Committee is available if any concerns do arise. The Director of Youth Ministry is also responsible to the Session in fulfilling his/her job description, and will report to Session as to activities and programmatic suggestions.  An undergrauate degree is required.

The effectiveness of any staff relationship depends on the skills, faith perspectives and complimentary personalities of the Senior Pastor and staff members. To that end, the Senior Pastor and the Director of Youth Ministry will have weekly meetings to plan and to pray for an effective ministry for the church and community.  

Specific Duties may include but not be limited to:

As a staff liaison and resource person for the Youth Committee (YC), s/he will:

1. Follow Child Protection Policy of CPC.
2. Coordinate with DCE yearly training in CPC’s Child Protection Policy.
3. Teach and/or coordinate teachers for Sunday School.
4. Plan with the YC, education events or workshops for youth advisors.
5. Oversee the recruitment of Youth leaders for Seekers and Crux.
6. Participate in and encourage the development of youth participation and involvement in all aspects of church life, including summer Vacation Bible School (VBS).
7. Teach and/or participate in confirmation.

The Director of Youth Ministry needs to be a friend, an enthusiast and an advocate of youth, as well as a leader in Christian spiritual growth. To this end the Youth Director will:

1. Be responsible for the development of all youth programming (Middle School and High School), and is to work with the youth ministry team, including advisors, to insure an effective program under the guidance of the Senior Pastor.
2. Be expected to participate in the church mission trip, and be responsible for youth on the trip.
3. Develop a plan to integrate 5th graders into Seekers and 8th graders into Crux.
4. Visit with youth and their families.
5. Develop out-reach ministries to un-churched youth.


The Director of Youth Ministry will have the opportunity to share in pastoral duties and may:

1. Participate in Sunday Morning Worship and preach, on occasion as mutually agreed to.
2. Participate in other aspects of pastoral ministry as time permits.
3. Visit youth in the hospital or home as called upon.
4. Give pastoral counsel as needed (with supervision by the Senior Pastor.)
