Reaching Out to Chicago

.

Pullman Church

We have partnered with Pullman along with several other churches in Chicago Presbytery to help them achieve goals they have set for themselves. To achieve these goals, an expanded facility was a necessity, and Pullman broke ground for a new building in November of 2004.

They occupied this new building about two years later, and their dreams are being realized.

Association House

Our church supports Association House, a Chicago neighborhood house, by donations of clothing and household items, Christmas gifts and our annual TAG day through the Children's Benefit league of Chicago and the suburbs every April. Thank you to those who tag and those who give. All the proceeds go to support programs for children at Association House.

Christian Industrial League

The League has been around for over 90 years, serving those on Chicago's "skid row" who are down and out. Beginning with food and shelter, those who come there have job training and counseling available, along with connections to work programs arranged by League staff.

Chicago Night Ministry
The Night Ministry is an ecumenical endeavor that provides counseling, referral services, outreach, healthcare, advocacy, and education for homeless children and adults on the streets of Chicago. The Night Ministry of Chicago makes between 40 and 45 thousand contacts with street people each year, and around 10,000 of these are homeless children ages 14-17. As resources permit, the ministry provides a youth shelter and meals. The youth shelter is an important part of the ministry, since children under 18 are not permitted in adult shelters unless they are part of a family. $25.00 will provide one night's shelter and a meal for a homeless youngster. The Night Ministry will celebrate 30 years of service in 2006, and presently has over 50 staff persons and 400 volunteers.
