Music
CPC is a congregation that experiences spirit-filled music every week. It’s a congregation that enjoys singing inspiring hymns led from the organ, and also enjoys singing praise choruses energetically led from our exceptionally talented praise team members. It’s a congregation who hears choral anthems that speak to its heart and soul. It’s a congregation whose worship experience is continually enhanced by beautiful music from our hand bell ensembles, our many instrumentalists, and by other music ensembles.

Our music ministry provides a balance of praise, reverence, style, tempo, and complexity of text and music. Our music ministry tells the story of God through song.

Music talent abounds here at CPC yet there is always room for growth. So bring your talent to the Lord and become a part our thriving and exciting music ministry. There are many opportunities for you to participate.

Chancel Choir
Under the direction of Philip Roberts this spirited group participates in the 8:30 am worship by offering a balanced variety of sacred choral music of several different styles including contemporary, classical, spirituals, gospel, and traditional hymn arrangements.

This choir prepares a major choral work or cantata each Christmas. No auditions are required to be a member of Chancel Choir. This group consists of people of all ages from teens through adults. Even if you’ve never sung in a choir before you will find Chancel Choir a great place to begin. You are invited to be a part of this wonderful music ministry. Our rehearsals are fun and lively yet remain focused on telling the story of God through music.

Rehearsals are each Wednesday from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm from September through May. Call the church office (630.627.0306) or email Philip Roberts for more information.
Chancel Bells
During the latter part of the 20th century, hand bells developed into an important element in many church music ministries and Community Presbyterian is no exception. Chancel Bells participates in worship once a month. Directed by Philip Roberts this group rings 3 octaves of Schulmerich hand bells and 3 octaves of Malmark handchimes.

While auditions are not required, faithful and consistent attendance is a requirement. Furthermore, no previous hand bell experience is necessary. Although ringing hand bells is not for everyone it is a unique and tremendously satisfying endeavor.

Rehearsals are each Tuesday from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm from September through May. Call the church office (630.627.0306) or email Philip Roberts for more information.
Praise Team
A talented vocal ensemble of three to four voices and a gifted instrumental combo which includes guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and brass lead the music for the 11:00 am contemporary worship service. They also assist in providing musical leadership for worship during the summer, when we have one worship service with a blended style. The praise team continually adds to its repertoire in order to stay current with the state of contemporary Christian praise music.

Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm. A weekly commitment is not always a requirement, since having many talented musicians allows some to rotate Sundays. This flexible scheduling enables more people to share their gifts in this vibrant element of our music ministry.

Rev. David Hoffmann, Parish Associate, leads this ensemble. For more information call the church office (630.627.0306) or email David Hoffmann.
Junior Ringers
Hand bells and handchimes and children just naturally go together. Director Philip Roberts has many years of experience working with children and youth. Young people who comprise the Junior Ringers are exposed to Christian music in a unique and adventurous way as they prepare to participate in worship monthly.

Rehearsals also include fun games and activities, which keeps the Juniors Ringers fully engaged and enables equal participation. This music ensemble is for children from 3rd grade through 8th grade.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm right after Homework Club. Call the church office or email Philip Roberts for more information.
