DAILY DEVOTION - APRIL 18

Listen to today's daily devotion on this video.

Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary, the mother of James and the other women with them who told this to the apostles but these words seems to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them.

Luke 24: 10-11

The most delicate translation is “an idle tale” though the Greek word is much more vulgar. We can imagine the word Luke uses to shock and to denigrate the women’s account that Jesus was risen from the dead. And we well know those words often used by unbelievers to discount the truth of the Resurrection: utter nonsense, garbage, pure fantasy…and much, much worse. But we know that the Word made flesh did just as He said. He overcame death. He overcame sin, and He overcame the world. His living defies all the bad words people throw at God, He Who saves us through Jesus Christ.

Let us pray with our CPC sisters and brothers . . .

We thank You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for the power of the Word that stands against those who view the crucifixion as defeat and the tomb as unopened. We praise You for the Word, our Lord Jesus, Who walked, talked, ate, and lived among His followers after His Resurrection. Help us to believe the true story of eternity, and help us to proclaim Him as our Lord and our God! Amen.
