Listen to today's daily devotion on this video.

Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

I Corinthians 12:27

Imagine the Carpenter’s tools holding a conference. Brother Hammer, some suggested, should leave. He was too noisy. Brother Hammer replied, “If I leave Jesus’ carpenter’s shop, so too should Brother Screw. You have to turn him around again and again to get him to accomplish anything.

Brother Screw spoke up, “I will go, but Brother Plane should too. All his work is on the surface; he has no depth.”

“Well,” said Brother Plane, “then Brother Ruler should go. He is always measuring people as if he alone is always right.”

So Brother Ruler complained, “What about Brother Sandpaper? He’s so rough and always rubbing people the wrong way!”

In walks the Carpenter of Nazareth, Jesus. Putting on His apron He went to the workbench to make a pulpit from which the Gospel could be told. He picked up the hammer, the screw, the plane, the ruler and the sandpaper, and some other tools. When the pulpit was finished, Brother Saw said, “Brethren, I see all of us are workers together with the Lord!”

Let us pray with our CPC sisters and brothers . . .

Almighty God, make us conscious that the tools for the Kingdom are used to proclaim the Gospel. Each of us is a member of the body of Christ Who is the Master Carpenter. Amen.
