DAILY DEVOTION - APRIL 8

Listen to today's daily devotion on this video.

“All my enemies rail against us; panic and pitfall have come upon us, devastation and destruction…”

Lamentations 3:46-47

Pitfall: a flimsily covered or camouflaged hole or trap. From the time of Adam and Eve in the Garden, pitfalls lie in wait for the human creature; a snare that deceives and appeals to our most base instincts. Satan appealed to our First Parents through the immodesty of their pride. And he continues to do so with us today, flimsily covering up our ego and our greed under the guise of self-empowerment and swagger. These pitfalls bring the devastation of separation from God and destruction of the covenant He longs to secure with us. We call it sin. God today calls us back from it, longing to restore calm amid panic; and friendship in the midst of His enemies.

Let us pray with our CPC sisters and brothers . . .

O God, we are helpless, longing for Your grace and Your mercy as we rail against the panic and the pitfalls of evil. Fix our eyes on the love of Jesus for us, that we may never fall into the pit of despair and unbelief. Deliver us from the enemy of devastation and destruction and restore Your people, we pray. Amen.
