DAILY DEVOTION - MARCH 18

You are a hiding place for me; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with glad cries of deliverance. (Psalm 32:7)
As children we played Hide and Seek. One person was “It” and the others were those who hid. It was a fun game, played when days were mostly carefree and laughter came easily. Today the Psalmist names our God as a hiding place, a divine Presence in Whom we can find a secure base. God is pictured as the One Who shields us from trouble and surrounds us with protection.
Christianity is the only world faith system where humankind need not seek God. God seeks us! He is “IT!” God is the One and Only Who pursues us, reaches for us, and catches our restless souls in His relentless desire to keep company with us. And then God, through His Son, Jesus, delivers us with a cry of ceaseless joy.
Let us pray with our CPC sisters and brothers…
You are our hiding place, O God. Let us crawl into the solace of Your understanding heart where we are preserved from trouble. When we are afraid, surround us with Your voice. When we are lonely, surround us with Your Presence. When we are doubting, deliver us into belief. Amen.
