Listen to today's daily devotion on this video.

This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

John 15:12

“…as I have loved you.” Could Jesus’ words, recorded in John’s Gospel, possibly, truly, include us? Surely we love, but often fitfully, fallenly, and, at times, faithlessly. And yet, our Lord clearly commands. Not a suggestion; a command to love as He loves. How does our Lord love? Always, perfectly, and faithfully....in keeping His covenant with us. That covenant idea may be the key here: we are grafted into that covenant. Our half of the pact is our pledge to love one another, to serve one another, to die to self, and to live for God and His people. And while we do so in imperfect ways, God’s half of the divine pact supersedes our failings. He covers our shortfall and makes up the difference. We may call it grace.

Let us pray with our CPC sisters and brothers . . .

Triune God, we love you and we love one another. Help us borrow from Your endless bounty of love in reaching for one another. Help us take on Your Image and live in Your example, by Your grace. Amen.
