We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed but not driven to despair; persecuted but not forsaken; struck down but not destroyed . . .

(II Corinthians 4:8-9)

As the virus continues, the severity of its impact increases. Every aspect of our life is affected, confusion is compounded, and the sense of a siege visited upon us more real. And yet, because of the love and mercy of Jesus we are not crushed, nor in despair, nor forsaken or destroyed.

We live in hope, certain that nothing can crush the love we have for Jesus. We live in hope that no despair can erase our trust in Him. We live in hope that we are known and saved, never forsaken. We live in hope that Jesus struck down sin and destroyed death that we might live again.

Let us pray with our CPC sisters and brothers…

Merciful God, we are convinced that nothing in all creation – including the power of a virus – can separate us from Your love in Christ Jesus. Save us from the forces that threaten our world. Restore health to all who suffer, be with those who tend the sick, and deliver us from the temptation to doubt Your power to heal. Amen.
