Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Our time together has drawn to a close and that brings deep sadness to us both. We have come to treasure our connection with you and will greatly miss each of you. We are not hesitant to say it: we love you and we wish we could have continued our ministry with you. Thank you for the beautiful flower arrangement and loving message each of us received from the CPC congregation on Friday. What a very kind gesture, and one that means a great deal to us.

CPC has a new chapter unfolding before it; one that includes the transition to new leadership that Session is well underway in securing. We join you in thanking God for His goodness in providing continuing pastoral leadership, and in welcoming these pastors to the CPC family. We pray for their ministries with you.

While our love and affection for you has no interruption, we remind all that we cease direct contact on July 6 as new leadership comes on board. This is not to dismiss the depth of our concern for you. It is to make space for the congregation to bond with new pastors. It is part of a Christ-centered pastoral identity that we former pastors discipline our natural feelings of attachment for the greater good of God’s people. We pledge to follow what our Presbyterian denomination requires in a covenantal agreement: that we will engage in no conversation that includes any mention of church business.

This covenant invites prayer for a beloved congregation, and that we can and do pledge to Community Presbyterian Church. Our prayer is that you, a fine group of committed Christians who love Jesus and reflect His grace and mercy, will flourish and have abundant life. It is an easy promise to make and keep. We take great delight in praying for you.

We close with the words of a beloved hymn:

God be with you till we meet again,

Loving counsels guide, uphold you,

With a Shepherd’s care enfold you,

God be with you till we meet again.

Blessings and love to all,

Pastor Lolly and Pastor Bunny
